Albunuelas lies in the mountains of the
"Sierra de Albunuelas". These mountains lie to the west of the well
known "Sierra Nevada" and close to the road connecting Granada with the
Costa Tropical holiday resort area.
The village is about 15 minutes drive from the Granada - Costa Tropical
motorway
and lies towards the head of the Lecrin Valley. Along the short and
meandering drive to Albunuelas from the motorway there are very
attractive villages such as Lecrin, Melegis and Restabal.
It is also is within easy striking distance of Granada (25min), the
Sierra Nevada ski slopes (45min) and the coastal resorts of Salobrena
(40min) and Almunecar (55min).
The climate in Albunuelas genuinely sees the "four seasons". In summer
the temperature can reach the upper 30's or more whilst in winter, the
temperature can fall below zero degrees Celsius (thankfully, there is
air
conditioning / heating to accommodate the extremes)!
